Bom Bom Island Resort
Combining excellent facilities and luxury, superb beaches and natural tranquillity in an exotic location, Bom Bom Island Resort is an attractive destination for fishermen, nature-lovers, escapists and honeymooners.
Likened to scenes from Jurassic Park and The Beach, Bom Bom is a true island paradise, an undiscovered gem and the perfect spot to discover this magical island of Principe.
Bom Bom Island Resort lies on the northern shore of the tropical island of Príncipe, with a privileged location between two beautiful, uninhabited beaches, located on a pristine bay surrounded by lush rainforest covered hills. A virtually undiscovered paradise in the Atlantic Ocean, close to Gabon. The islet is joined to the mainland by a novel wooden walkway. The Restaurant, serving the freshest of seafood, delivered to the kitchen direct from the fishermen’s canoes, Bar and Marina are situated on the Bom Bom Islet itself, whilst the Bom Bom Chalets, Swimming Pool and all other amenities are situated on the main island of Principe.
Rooms are authentic island-style bungalows with simple décor and light spaces. 19 bungalows enjoy garden views, ocean views or beach-front views. There are also four inter-leading pool Bungalows perfect for families. All rooms have en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, flat-screen TV with satellite connection, telephone, safe, in-room tea/coffee station, mini bar/ fridge and overhead fan.
Outside the hotel fantastic sport fishing is available for guests, particularly Bill Fish between May and October. Whale watching is at its best between July and September while the turtle preservations projects are best visited between December and March.
On the island itself, trained guides can take you to explore the primeval forest and its endemic bird life and flora. Experience the cultivation on the island’s plantations coffee, pepper, cocoa and vanilla. Sundi Estate, a nearby colonial farm, is a fascinating experience on a half day tour.
The water is clear and warm and great for swimming and snorkelling. Although at the moment diving is only offered on São Tomé Island, there are plans to open a dive centre at Bom Bom enabling visitors to explore the waters of the island, crafted by past volcanic activity, and head out deeper into the ocean channels to experience open sea diving.
Flights to Principe are via Lisbon and São Tomé and thus work fantastically as a twin or multi centre trip – one or two overnights will be necessary depending on your dates.
