July 2019: Southern Africa with Simon King

This eight night desert-orientated Exceptional Journey with Simon King takes you to the extremely remote and little-visited Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park on the southern corner of Botswana, characterised by its red sand dunes and the arid Nossob River valley. From the Kgalagadi fly by private charter to South Africa and onto Tswalu, the largest private game reserve in country.

In the Nossob River valley the open acacia savannas and grassy plains make the region an excellent hunting ground for predators, which include the black maned Kalahari lion, leopard, cheetah, brown and spotted hyena, jackal and wildcat. Tswalu offers more unusual species of wildlife and Meerkat viewing is unparalleled as the reserve has two colonies of meerkats, that have grown to trust people and allow close approach and observation. Tswalu is also probably the best place on earth to view aardvark and pangolin.
