Satri House
Stunning Satri House enjoys an ideal position just a short stroll from the ancient quarter of Luang Prabang. Formerly the residence of Prince Souphanavong and now a UNESCO protected heritage house, the property underwent extensive renovations in 2008, resulting in, in our opinion, the best luxury boutique hotel in town.
Staying here is like being hosted by royalty in a bygone era, designed with a style inspired by Lao culture and set in a truly relaxing environment. You can enjoy private moments to yourself within the lush fragrant gardens and watch the everyday life of local people from your balcony.
Six colonial-style houses surround two swimming pools and feature 31 beautifully designed rooms and suites ranging from Deluxe Rooms set in the garden buildings to regal Satri Suites found within the original house. Guest rooms are furnished with 4-poster beds, high quality linen, wood shutters, ceramic floors and soft pastel colours. High quality local handicrafts and collectables are found throughout and there is no doubting the class which runs throughout the hotel.
The atmospheric restaurant is a place to sample a symphony of Lao and Thai spices and the pleasant poolside terrace provides the perfect spot for lunch or a welcome evening gin and tonic. If you are in need of some pampering, there is also a small but serene spa where you can choose from a classic range of massages, body scrubs and facial treatments. Here you will also find a herbal steam room, cool pool and a Jacuzzi.
Whilst the hotel lacks the facilities and perhaps the international service of some of the more recent five star hotel in Luang Prabang, it more than makes up for it with its local character and charm.
