Step off the "well trodden path", into Semliki Wildlife Reserve. Evoking the spirit of the old explorers, Semliki Safari Lodge is a luxury lodge with a reputation for providing guests with a Ugandan, home from home, experience in keeping with it's surrounding wilderness.
The only property within the Semliki Wildlife Reserve, this traditional tented lodge offers a truly private game viewing experience with specialist experiences and sightings on offer.
With only eight canvas tents, under thatched roofs and gleaming hardwood floors, the romance of safari is never far away. When sleeping under canvas you hear the sounds, feel the wind and smell the rain before it comes. Each tented suits has it’s own private verandah with views over the forest. The bathrooms have flush loos and solar hot water for showers.
Set within beautifully landscaped gardens, the mess area has a wide, open sided lounge area, bar, verandah, dining area, library and swimming pool. The welcome from the team is always exceptional, welcoming you to their bush home.
Within this wilder part of Uganda, you have the luxury of choice of activities, and space. Activities include trips to spot the shoebill, beautiful bird watching on land and by boat, tracking forest elephant and Ugandan kob, boating, fishing and guided bush walks. A specialist initiative that the team at Semliki Lodge helped to establish in the 1990s, is the Semliki Chimpanzee Research project. Whilst staying at Semliki Lodge, you can have a chat with the resident chimp researcher and learn about evolution and bipedalism.
The lodge plays an integral part to the local community employing locally and supporting their future training. They have an active conservation programme to protect the species within Semliki which will be brought to life during your stay.
