Scarabeo Camp – Les Roches Noires
A short hours drive from Marrakech is the dramatic Agafay Desert and, standing out on a rocky hillside are the crisp canvas tents of Les Roches Noires. This opulent Berber camp provides a prime base to explore the Agafay Desert for the day, or a night under the stars.
If you yearn for a night under the stars (who doesn’t?) but don’t have time to make it into the Sahara, a night at Scarabeo’s Les Roches Noires encapsulates the romanticism from a bygone era that surrounds this unique experience.
Only a short drive from Marrakech, the mineral rich, lunar landscape of the Agafay desert has attracted explorers into it’s vast empty space for generations. Moving every six months to ensure the camps optimal spot for the season ahead, Les Roches Noires 15 suites, including four family suites are dotted within the rocky moonscape. Each suite is elegantly curated with African mats, Berber rugs and Moroccan lanterns and enjoys it’s own sitting area, private terrace and wood stove for the cooler evenings.
Throughout the camp mess areas are uniquely sourced pieces and locally crafted artwork. Guests can enjoy beautiful seating areas overlooking the Agafay, soft loungers by the pool and shaded mess areas filled armchairs amongst trunks and books on the local area. This, along with exemplary service, fresh cuisine, soft linens and a love for al fresco dining makes Les Roches Noires a wonderful expedition style desert experience.
If you can tear yourself away from the pool or hillside mobile bar, we can arrange a variety of activities for you to explore the desert, including quad biking, mountain biking, hiking, camel trekking, hot air ballooning and star gazing with a local Astronomer.
