Olimba Camp
Located in the pristine Nsefu Sector of the South Luangwa overlooking the Luangwa River and lagoon, Olimba offers sensational close-up wildlife viewing opportunities.
Olimba Camp is a small, owner-run safari camp located in the remote Nsefu Sector of Zambia’s South Luangwa, operating from May to November and welcoming guests aged eight and older. The camp features just four well-spaced chalets, accommodating a maximum of eight guests, set beneath towering ebony trees with views of the Luangwa River and a nearby lagoon. With homely cuisine enhanced by fresh produce from the Remote Africa Safaris garden and the option for exclusive use, Olimba Camp delivers an intimate, peaceful, and highly private safari base in one of Zambia’s most scenic wilderness areas.
Each of the four comfortable canvas-and-thatch chalets are just set back from the hippo filled Luangwa River, offering flexible king or twin layouts. En-suite facilities have running water, solar power, charging points, roof fans, WIFI, and both indoor and open-air showers for a stars-above bush-bath experience.
Under the guidance of some of the Luangwa’s most expert guides, guests explore prime South Luangwa wilderness through day and night game drives in the low-traffic Nsefu area. As with Olimba’s sister camp Tafkia, there are specialist opportunities for photography and birding (hundreds of species), plus close-up “armchair” sightings from dedicated hides, including a private lagoon hide and seasonal Carmine bee-eater hide. Cultural visits to nearby Mkasanga Village can also be arranged, alongside options such as private vehicles and guides for added flexibility—delivering strong chances to encounter leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo, wild dog, and the area’s distinctive giraffe.
