Indulge in attentive yet unpretentious, personalised service, fabulous cuisine and fantastic “tents” with spectacular views of the Zambezi and its resident wildlife. All this in a beautiful setting with leopards, lions, elephants, hippos and other wildlife as your neighbours. The “bush gym” is available for those who need to make space for additional calories on offer followed by recovery time by the riverside pool and sunlounge deck.
On the banks of the Zambezi River, under a grove of evergreen Mahogany trees, Chiawa Camp holds the prime position in the heart of Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park.
A stunning thatched lounge/bar area with upstairs viewing deck provides one of the best views of the Zambezi whilst after enjoying Chiawa’s renowned cuisine on the al-fresco dining veranda, one can relax by the open camp fire with a cocktail in hand to reminisce of the day’s adventures before retiring to the tents, each a sanctuary of luxury and peace to dream about what tomorrow may bring.
Each of the eight safari tents are an enormous c. 100sq metres with a super-king bed (or twins) under mosquito netting and a cooling fan. The bathroom is equally as luxurious with a ball and claw bath, his and her double vanities, indoor look and shower with ample storage space. Cleverly, each tent has numerous international plug points with USB ports, ensuring electrical equipment is always charged and ready for photographic opportunities. Large sliding doors at the front of each tent open onto a shaded verandah with an outdoor “waterfall” shower, comfy reclining safari chairs, a dining table for two and, the icing on the cake, a sunken lounge with it’s very own “bench wall” – an essential cooling spot for the hot summer months. All of this whilst resident wildlife pass between and around the tents and the hippos wallow in the mighty Zambezi River only a few metres away.
The ninth tent, is the spectacular Safari Suite. A sanctuary of almost 220 sq metres, the Safari Suite has all the comforts of the safari tents but with it’s own 16 sq metre plunge pool, private fireplace, larger outdoor deck with lounge and dining area. The large lounge area can also be converted to a second bedroom for families. All the “tents” set a new standard for Zambia in bush-luxury; however they still retain the rustic and unpretentious feel that Chiawa is so well loved for.
