Le Jardin du Roy
One of three French-owned hotels, Le Jardin du Roy is positioned in private grounds near the Parc National d'Isalo, in the Southern region of Madagascar.
Located south of the main reserve, Le Jardin du Roy boasts majestic views over the park’s signature lofty sandstone cliffs. 27 air-conditioned rooms are arranged in four separate stone buildings, designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings, scattered around the manicured grounds which include a large swimming pool. Rooms are either twin, double or triple, with en-suite bathrooms, each modest but tasteful in style with wooden floors and private balconies or patios.
A large dining room with an open fire at its centre, hosts all meals and is particularly cosy during the winters cooler mornings. For a pre diner drink the bar is the perfect spot in which to relax or play a game of pool in the evening.
The hotel’s facilities include a well-equipped riding stables, tennis courts and spa. ATV and quad bike tours are available, mountain bikes can be rented and there is also a climbing route on the property.
Popular excursions while staying Le Jardin du Roy include guided walks in Parc National d’Isalo, famed for its spectacular native splendour, spotting sociable ring-tailed, brown and grey mouse lemurs, as well as Verreaux’s sifaka. Guests also enjoy visits to local villages and even to the sapphire mines.
