Huka Lodge

A rich landscape of lakes, forests, waterfalls and mountains forms a stunning backdrop to this iconic New Zealand retreat, which has been delivering an extraordinary hospitality experience to the world’s most discerning travellers, since 1924.

Huka Lodge has long been considered one of the top retreats in the world, with an extensive and continuous list of prestigious awards bearing testament to this. Nestling within a riverside location of great natural beauty, guests find true relaxation and inner peace as the real world is left behind. Nurtured by gourmet food, fine wine and attentive service guests luxuriate within the privacy of 17-acres of manicured grounds, within a Garden of National Significance. With over 20 unique and deliberately romantic venues available for private dining, guests are spoilt for choice and every last detail is considered for their comfort.

With just 25 rooms including 18 Junior Lodge Suites, one double Lodge suite, the four-suite Owner’s Cottage and the two-suite Alan Pye Cottage Huka Lodge offers superb privacy, butler service and a personal chef. The suites all enjoy uninterrupted views of the deep turquoise green waters of the Waikato River and offer every comfort from feather pillows and homemade biscuits to magnificent bathrooms with under floor heating and generous dressing rooms. Tennis court, swimming and spa pools, petanque and croquet are also located within the grounds and in-room massages and spa treatments also on offer.

Huka Lodge is renowned for its outstanding gourmet cuisine and this continues to define the extraordinary hospitality experience. Executive Chef, Paul Froggatt presents the freshest and best quality local seasonal produce, with a new menu daily, showcasing many of New Zealand’s finest ingredients for the enjoyment of guests. Huka Lodge country style breakfasts are a hearty start to any day and every evening a stunning five-course dinner follows drinks and canapés. The wine list has a carefully selected list of absolute treasures available from New Zealand and further afield.

Though many guests never choose to leave the park-like grounds, those that seek adventure beyond the gates are rarely disappointed. Panoramic scenery provides a backdrop to wonderful golf courses, aquatic adventures on Lake Taupo, including every possibility of landing a trophy-size rainbow trout, kayaking, rafting, hiking, horse riding, mountain biking and many other recreational pursuits. A welcome return to the Lodge brings blazing log fires, tales of the day and much conviviality as the day extends into an evening punctuated with superb food and wine and the absolute style so synonymous with Huka Lodge.
