Inkaterra La Casona

La Casona blazed the trail for stylish, boutique properties in Cusco and it remains up there with the top options in the city. This charming hotel has been converted from a 16th Century manor house and the design never forgets its heritage and sense of history.

In its lifetime, La Casona has played host to a number of illustrious guests such as the Spanish Conquistador, Diego de Almagro and  Simón Bolívar. It took over five years for the Inkaterra team to restore the mansion to its former glory and the architects painstakingly renovated many of the original features from murals that line some of the walls to the courtyard garden.

Eleven warm and cosy suites are accessed by a walkway that surrounds the courtyard and each has a chimney, heated floor and enormous bathtubs in the en-suite bathrooms.

The Yacu therapy room is known for its excellent spa treatments using local ingredients and traditional therapies that have passed down through generations. The food is also excellent and the menu is lovingly designed by the resident chef who delivers a combination of local and international dishes.

From La Casona you are in the heart of Cuzco and all the main sites of town are within walking distance. This makes it a perfect base from which to explore one of South America’s finest Colonial cities.
