Azerai La Residence Hue

Nestled on the banks of the Perfume River, this elegant art deco style boutique hotel has uninterrupted views of Hue’s Imperial Citadel, over the water. Formerly the country’s capital, the impressive citadel, is one of eight of UNESCO’s world heritage sites in Vietnam.

The Azerai La Residence Hue, once the official residence of the Governor of Vietnam, has been meticulously restored to its former glory, making it the best address in town.  Whilst two wings have been added, great care has been taken to ensure the style has remained uncompromised.  Guests are housed in 122 rooms and suites, with views across the gardens to the river. Rooms are light and airy, furnished with luxurious fabrics, and colonial touches have been thoughtfully deployed throughout.

When you are in need of downtime, after exploring the nearby sights, there is a large outdoor saltwater swimming pool, as well as a well-regarded 1930’s styled spa offering a host of treatments.

The hotels signature restaurant, Le Parfum, serves fantastic Vietnamese and Western dishes, in a wonderful setting overlooking the river, whilst the Gouverneur Bar is a cosy space with red velvet armchairs and sofas, ideal for an after dinner cocktail. A mural by French artist Roland Renaud arcs overhead below the domed ceiling, adding drama to the 1920’s styled space. The hotel offers wonderful cookery classes, as well as dinner cruises along the Parfum River, poolside barbecues and private dinners on your balcony.
