Dar Ahlam

Meaning "House of Dreams", Dar Ahlam is a cool, calm oasis in the southern most region of the High Atlas Mountains, known as the gateway to the vast Sahara Desert.

An exceptionally beautiful Kasbah near Ouarzazate, Dar Ahlam sits in the shade of a 110-year old palm grove and within manicured lawns and mature gardens.

With only 14 rooms, each individually designed with contemporary colours and lavish fabrics chosen by the owner, the Kasbah is a graceful retreat with modern comforts and only essential technologies.  Seven of the rooms are located within the main building ,varying from 30m² to 45m² in size and with wonderful, large bathrooms. In the garden are seven garden suites – perfect for those seeking more privacy and space. The suites are 80 m², each with their own terrace out into the gardens and one suite offers two bedrooms.

Breezy in summer and snug in winter, each room has air-conditioning, as well as heated floors in the bathrooms, and fireplaces. There are no TVs, no telephones and no minibars. Wi-Fi is available in the Kasbah suites, the Garden suites, and in the main salon. The cosy library’s computer is also available for guests if required.

Warm and enchanting, this nineteenth-century historical kasbah features traditional mud-brick floors, adobe walls and a hammam surrounded by lush, mature gardens. Within this calm oasis are plenty of spaces to relax, swim in the pool, soak up some sun, read, or be pampered at Dar Ahlam’s spa and luxurious hammam. With no menu or meal times, every meal is a journey into the local flavours of the region, enjoyed at a time suited to each guest al fresco in the garden, on the banks of the river or by a crackling fire of the dining area.

Beyond the walls of Dar Ahlam, yet only five kilometers away you find yourself in a completely different environment, a rocky desert. Here guests can trek, walk, quad bike or ride through the desert with one of their professional local guides.
