Desert Luxury Camp Chigaga
Desert Luxury Camp Chigaga is located off the main tourism trail, in the dunes of Erg Chigaga. Surrounded by golden sand dunes, guests are immersed in the Moroccan Nomadic way of life, whilst enjoying a high level of service and authentic, timeless memories.
60kms deep into the desert, on approach Desert Luxury Camp Chigaga’s white tents seem initially to be a mirage. A lesser trodden part of the Moroccan Sahara Desert, Erg Chigaga is absolutely pristine and home to the largest ergs in Morocco by area.
Offering three separate “camps”, each suited to a different style of traveller. Main camp has eight large en-suite tents, Private Camp has two en-suite tents, perfect for friends and family, bookable on an Exclusive Use basis only and Dome Camp, a unique desert experience for a maximum of two people.
Each camp has it’s own private space providing a feeling of independent, desert isolation. Within Main Camp are a variety of mess tents filled with traditional rungs, books and table games to be enjoyed by all guests.
The tents at both Main Camp and Private Camp are full of charm and colour, adorned with traditional Moroccan rugs, king sized beds with an adjoining bathroom tent with it’s own flush toilet, sink, hand held shower and dressing table. Electricity is solar generated and, in the cooler months, gas heaters are provided to keep the tents snug. Dome Camp is a completely unique experience. Gazing into the starlit sky from the comfort of your king size bed in the Sahara Desert makes for a memorable night as you watch for shooting stars from your cosy bed. With it’s own wooden terrace, heating and en-suite shower facilities guests want for nothing. High quality products, towels and linens are used throughout the camps.
Guests can choose between indoor and al fresco fining depending on the weather. Meals are prepared using fresh ingredients and can be tailored to each guests dietary requirements. The focus is to produce gourmet cuisine with traditional Moroccan specialities.
Throughout your stay, you can explore the dunes aboard a camel or try your hand at sand boarding. It is also possible to venture further afield to visit Nomads and learn about their way of life in the Sahara environment. At night, gather around the campfire under the open starry skies, listening to the beat of traditional drums, spending time with friends and family.
