Eastern & Oriental Express takes it’s guests through some of the wonders of Asia. Cultural marvels, unseen landscapes and dynamic cities await as the train travels through epic Malaysian landscapes and iconic cities.
The train echoes the grand journeys of a bygone era, when richly opulent interiors set the scene for luxuriously slow adventures. On board, the recently remodelled interiors blend art deco details, artisanal Thai furnishings and intricate Malay marquetry. Thai silks and Malaysian embroidery can be found throughout the train. Elegant, air-conditioned cabins and suites offer large picture windows, framing the spectacular views, with ensuite shower rooms and every comfort. In the open-air Observation Car, guests enjoy unobstructed views of the surroundings as they’re enveloped in the sights, sounds and scents of Southeast Asia.
The cuisine on board features Peranakan delicacies with the Chef’s modern twist. Menus focus on fresh, local, sustainable produce, with meals served in the ornate dining cars. Lively entertainment follows in the bar cars as mixologists craft signature cocktails and live music fills the air. In tandem with the old-world glamour, guests experience dynamic modern creativity through emerging tastemakers, contemporary artists and guest chefs on board.
Scheduled three-night journeys include excursions guided by local experts. They include the art or gastronomic scene of Penang, Langkawi’s heavenly Pulau Payar Marine Park and Taman Negara National Park, home to the endangered Malayan tiger.
