Goatfell
One of Sri Lanka's more contemporary tea plantation bungalows in the beautiful Hill Country, slightly off the beaten path with far reaching views over the valley.
Goatfell is an intimate boutique hotel set on a tranquil spot with only four bedrooms, a stylish open plan living room and beautiful veranda leading onto the garden.
Traditionally a tea planters home, the open plan living room creates a natural setting for guests to gather around the fire and share stories from the day just past and plans for the day ahead. Three bedrooms are doubles, whilst the fourth is a twin with an option to use an interleading door into a double, creating a family suite. Spacious and exceptionally comfortable with crisp linen, an en suite bathroom with a deep bath and separate shower and French windows opening onto a private terrace overlooking the lush garden and beyond. In the corner of the garden is an infinity pool, surrounded by towering blue and white agapanthus and views of the surrounding tea plantations.
Mornings at Goatfell are special due to its altitude. Sitting at 2,000m above sea level, the clouds and mist cling to the surrounding hills, slowly burning off as the sun rises with a choir of soft birdsong in the background.
The kitchen at Goatfell delivers locally sourced, freshly prepared cuisine with a selection of daily curries as well as an array of internationally inspired dishes.
Being part of a tea plantation has its benefits too. A short stroll away is Finlay’s Tea Factory, an authentic working tea factory where you can learn all about the tea making process. The team are also very happy to provide you with a delicious picnic to explore the plantation pathways where you can find refreshing waterfalls to swim.
