Great Plains Selinda Suite

Great Plains Selinda Suite offers unparallel comfort whilst touching softly on the surrounding environment, something the Great Plains Conservation properties are well known for. Located within the 321,237acre private Selinda Reserve, this two bedroom suite is perfect if you are seeking a privacy in the heart of the Okavango Delta.

Overlooking a tranquil stretch of river on the private Selinda Reserve, the Selinda Suite offers one of the most exclusive safari offerings in Africa. Operating as your own private safari, this two bedroom canvas and thatched suite lies next to, but detached from, Selinda Camp with it’s own separate entrance and dedicated team. Guests have complete independence and exclusivity during their stay with experts at hand 24/7. Safari activities include 4×4 game drives, walking safaris and water-based safaris (water levels permitting).

The location of the camp was made famous by it’s owners, Dereck and Beverly Joubert, in their National Geographic Film “Birth of a Pride”, where the spillway connects the Okavango and Linyanti Rivers. A location rich in wildlife and a variety of natural landscapes from open grassland dotted with palms, to shady riverine forest and open waters.

Due to it’s favorable natural surroundings, there is a strong population of predators including wild dog, lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah with plentiful hunting opportunities. Lechwe, impala, kudu, zebra wildebeest and buffalo are there in numbers whilst there is also a fantastically strong elephant and giraffe population to enjoy. A sighting of an elephent in the Delta water is synonymous of a Delta safari and exhilarating to witness.

The camp itself is magical. Reminiscent of a bygone era, with a nod to the various historical influences on the area. The suite has been built to represent the meeting of three cultures: European, Mokololo and Bayei and is themed to resemble that of a thatched village of Sangwali. It’s architectural elements centre around water, air, earth and fire, all of which are enjoyed by it’s guests each day. The water of the delta is the first thing you see as you awaken, the fresh air in your hair as you safari, the earth beneath your feet as you walk and the fire at night, under the stars, as you reminisce of the day gone by.
