Jao Camp

Re-built in 2019, on a private island, within the Jao Reserve in Botwana's Okavango Delta, Jao Camp is considered one of Botswana's most luxurious camps.

Lying on the edge of a delta island, fringed by woodland, Jao Camp is within an area of exceptional beauty within the Okavango Ecosystem. Elevated on stilts, the main area of the camp is a sensational piece of architecture in itself. Built over two floors with deep rich interiors,  the area consists of a spacious lounge and dining room leading out onto a large deck with a sunken firepit – perfect for a post dinner drink under the stars. Following winding paths, you will find two quiet pool areas, gym and spa which offers an impressive collection of therapies and treatments.

Jao has five expansive and luxurious canvas safari suites. Their size and beauty are just as impressive as its location. Each has a double vanity unit with views out over the water, indoor and outdoor showers, veranda, an indoor lounge area, outdoor sala and plunge pool to relax in the afternoons. There are also two Jao villas, which can accommodate up to four people in two identical bedrooms, and come with their own vehicle, guide, chef and butler for complete exclusivity.

This part of the delta is blessed by having both land and water-based activities throughout the year. From boating to mokoro rides to seasonal catch and release fishing and highly productive game drives, safari at Jao is thrilling. We can even arrange a night on a start bed, a magical experience from the comfort of your bed.

Dining at Jao is an equal pleasure, whether it is on your private verandah, in camp or out in the bush alongside herds of zebra.

100% solar powered, the camp has been built sustainably and employs locally. The smallest impact on the last is made, with a highly positive impact on the local community.
