Kasbah Bab Ourika
Perched on a hilltop with 360 degree views of the the Atlas Mountains, Kasbah Bab Ourika is one of the most beautiful gateways to the Atlas Mountains. Overlooking a meandering river lined with olive groves, orange and lemon trees. Framed by snow capped mountains, it is easy to see why it is a treasured Moroccan property.
Kasba Bab Ourika exudes style and warmth within a mature, terraced garden, blending into the surrounding scenery. Guests enjoy a variety of areas to relax; on the patio, in nooks in the garden, by the pool, all whilst enjoying the spectacular view over the Ourika Valley.
With a total of 41 rooms; 16 in the main building, 5 in the garden, 3 pool suites and a private 6 bedroom villa. An 11 bedroom retreat sits slightly aside from the Kasbah, enjoyed by extended families or small groups. Whilst each room and suite has it’s own design, all enjoy spectacular views over the Atlas Mountains, Toubkal National Park and the valley below.
The Kasbah is set around an internal patio and offers a relaxed lounge, glass fronted dining room and cosy reading room. The build of the Kasbah reflects the typical style of Berber villages, with rammen earth walls and natural coloured beijmat floors. Internally, beautiful leather chairs, hand woven rugs, Moroccan fabrics and open fires for those cooler months provide an environment to disconnect from an everyday busy lifestyle.
The rich Ourika Valley provides plentiful vegetables which are used in the kitchens to create wonderful, fresh dishes to be enjoyed in the restaurant, al fresco or privately in your room or suite. Simple, yet delicious – especially the Berber pancakes with mountain honey and spiced lamb patties for lunch.
The lush gardens have pathways lined with rosemary, olive trees and roses, leading down to the pool. Our best spot for sundowners.
There are lovely mountain walks nearby and visits to the local markets and waterfalls. After sunset, the sky comes alive with stars and there is generally a board game happening next to one of the fires. A beautiful, deeply restful, Moroccan home from home.
