Khwai Tented Camp

Khwai is a private, community-run concession on the eastern border of the Moremi Game Reserve along the river Khwai. The river is the sole source of water for miles around attracting wildlife from afar. All proceeds from tourism go directly to help local people and local projects through the Khwai Community Trust.

The vegetation here is quite different from the western section of Moremi where great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands occur in close proximity to open grasslands and the Khwai River. Wildlife includes lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, as well as a multitude of other animals like elephant, buffalo, zebra, hippo and giraffe.

There are no permanent structures in the camp and so everything can be removed to leave the wilderness exactly as found, having little or no impact on the environment. You will enjoy spacious and comfortable tented accommodation, with beds and private en-suite bathrooms, the bathrooms have flushing toilets and hot-water bucket showers under the stars.

Although the camp is very remote in the bush, the staff pride themselves on genuine cuisine prepared in traditional bush-style with high quality, tasty, fresh products. The day starts with an early morning buffet breakfast, before the morning game drive, and will be followed by a brunch. Snacks and cakes are available throughout the day and sundowners are offered either during game drives or around the campfire. A wide selection of drinks are available at the bar.
