Kibale Lodge
Opening in July 2024, Kibale Lodge is set to deliver a new focus on Chimpanzee conservation within the Kibale National Park. Built to the high standards expected of Volcanoes Safaris, Kibale Lodge is an exciting new addition to the immersive primate experience found in Uganda.
Kibale National Park is a sanctuary for a third of Uganda’s chimpanzee population and Kibale Lodge is perfectly positioned to explore it’s riches. Only 30-minutes from the park gates, close enough for easy access yet set away, on a pristine area of land, commanding sensational views of the Rwenzori Mountains in the west and the Queen Elizabeth plains and Kazinga Channel to the south.
The newest addition to primate and ecotourism specialists Volcanoes Safaris who also own and operate Bwindi Lodge and Mount Gahinga Lodge, specialising in Mountain Gorilla trekking. Kibale Lodge has eight deluxe rooms and a stand alone villa, each offering a high standard of accommodation with wonderful interiors using textiles from the local area. Hand built by the Volcanoes specialist construction team, lodge will have an extensive mess area, spa, sauna and swimming pool when they are not exploring the local area. In keeping with the Volcanoes Safari ethos, the team welcome guests with open arms, providing a Ugandan home from home and delivering delicious fresh menus inspired by local cuisine and using local produce.
Sharing 90% of their DNA with humans, chimpanzee trekking is an experience unique to itself. Led by primate specialists, guests are guided into the Kibale Forest to quietly observe chimpanzee interactions and, in many cases, follow as they travel through the canopy at high speed.
Since 2009, the Volcanoes Safari Partnership Trust has been instrumental in implementing sustainable projects that benefit local communities and conservation efforts to reduce human-wildlife conflict. The Trust, in collaboration with the Jane Goodall Institute Uganda, is set to embark on community-based conservation projects in the Kibale Forest, drawing inspiration from the successful initiatives delivered at Kyambura Gorge. Guests will be able to visit and participate in these initiatives as well as walking safaris through the beautiful landscape. An exciting new addition for Volcanoes Safaris and safari in Uganda.
