Kwessi Dunes Lodge

New in 2020, fabulous Kwessi Dunes Lodge is located deep in Namibia’s striking NamibRand Nature Reserve, a vast desert wilderness of over 200,000 hectares. With its rolling desert plains, backdrop of craggy mountains and iconic red dunes, this is a place where time seems to stand still and the space is never-ending. Here, it’s not about chasing big game but rather soaking up the beauty of the colourful landscape, admiring the antelope that scatter the sand, and gazing at the stars that light up the night sky.

Guests at Kwessi Dunes Lodge are accommodated in 12 wonderful free-standing chalets, with canvas walls and thatched roofs. Lofty thatched roofs will keep you cool during the hot desert days (and nights!) and rooms are also equipped with air conditioning. Each bedroom has a vintage four-poster bed, striped canvas walls and en suite bathrooms come with both indoor and outdoor showers.

Shady verandas offer uninterrupted desert views and each rooms also has a separate ‘star gazer’ room that’s completely open to the sky – the perfect spot for falling asleep under the vast African skies. Two of the chalets have two bedrooms making them an ideal set up for families.

The main guest areas offer a well-stocked bar, library area and several seating and dining areas. When the sun rises in the morning, head to the camp fire for a morning cup of the tea, whilst in the heat of the day, the swimming pool is the only place to be.

Magnificent desert vistas are around every corner of this beautifully designed camp, and when you can bear to tear your eyes away, there are a host of activities to enjoy. Take your pick from morning and afternoon scenic drives, guided walks or quad biking across the reserve. Other activities which come at an extra cost include day trips to the rust red dunes of Sossusvlei, hot air ballooning, horse riding and scenic helicopter flights.
