20 minutes from the coastal town of Essaouira, tucked away in the hills, Les Jardin des Douars is an oasis amongst lush gardens of argan trees, aloes, olives and palms.
Built following traditional Moroccan practices using local materials, Le Jardin des Douars is a charming hotel cleverly combining 19 rooms, 6 suites and 6 private, fully serviced villas within a 4 acre botanical garden.
The Hotel: A charming hotel designed with curvy shapes and local materials in the strictest Moroccan tradition, with discreetly sophisticated decor and lush gardens for the ultimate in calm and authenticity; a uniquely luxurious escape enjoyed by discerning guests in search of simple pleasures and relaxation with their partner or family.
Each room and suite has been designed with it’s own character using warm, earthy colour palates of ochres and greens alongside natural, handcrafted materials, each with it’s own fireplace for cooler evening, high speed Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Some rooms and suites are within the hotel, whilst others are hidden in the seclusion of the tropical gardens for those seeking more privacy.
Throughout the hotel guests can find peaceful courtyards, patios and soft corners with Berber blankets and armchairs. The main areas have a cool, relaxed atmosphere. There are two heated swimming pools; one adult only with a relaxed bar serving signature cocktails, mocktails and other refreshments. The second heated pool is for families and includes a separate small pool for kids and bar area.
Meals are enjoyed both al fresco on the beautiful terrace or within the dining area, with a combination of French Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine highlighting the local Mediterranean flavours with fragrant, subtle, hearty and sophisticated cuisine. From French toast, Moroccan crepes and fruit at breakfast to beautiful Arabian tajines and fluffy couscous in the evenings, the kitchens are always open for guests to peek behind the scenes and meet the masters at work.
Les Jardin des Douars offers a fantastic Spa and Wellness area offers a variety of massages and is home to it’s own Hamman using argan oil, a local product from the surrounding argan trees, well known for it’s anti-aging properties.
Exclusive Use Villas: Six large, light and beautifully designed villas are set slightly away from the hotel, ideal for families or groups. Each villa has it’s own personal housekeeper who prepares breakfast as well as other meals if desired.
The villas can accommodate a variety of guests (14 max) surrounded by landscaped gardens, each with their own heated swimming pools and a variety other amenities such as a boule pitch, ping pong and board games – this varies from villa to villa. All whilst being able to use the amenities of the hotel. A perfect balance for those in search of the best of both worlds: a first-class hotel and a private vacation experience.
