Lyngen Lodge
In about 2.5 hours, this charming arctic lodge can be reached by a scenic land or ferry journey from Tromso. The lodge is perched on the banks of Lyngen Fjord and can accommodate up to 16 guests in eight small but tasteful bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms.
The large social “stua” and dining area were designed to provide a cosy and inviting space to gather when guests are not out exploring the wilderness.
In the summer months (June – early September) guests can enjoy long periods of daylight in which to explore the surroundings. The team at Lyngen pride themselves in showing the very best of the spectacular scenery by almost any means from gentle walking trails to extreme glacier hiking. Mountain bikes, horse riding and water sports can also be arranged. Keen fishermen can fish for salmon in the pristine Reisa River that flows from the Finnish tundra to the ocean. Guiding and all equipment can be provided. Humpback whales are often seen in the fjord between June and August as well as Springer Whales and, occasionally, orcas.
In the winter, with the landscape draped in crisp, white snow, the huskies, snowmobiles and skis come out. This is perfect terrain for adventurous skiers looking for a truly authentic and wild experience on virgin snow; no chairlifts or button rides out here!
