Miavana
Brand new, ultra-luxury lodge, Miavana is a private, four island paradise, surrounded by powder-soft beaches and pristine coral reefs, just 3.5kms off north east coast of Madagascar in the Nosy Ankao Archipelago.
Strung along the western side of the island to make the most of the Indian Ocean sunsets, Miavana is home to just 14 vast villas each with ocean & beach views, boasting a kitchenette, lounge, private deck and pool along with an electric buggy to transport you around the island. Guests have a choice between one, two and three bed accommodations allowing for couples and families alike with the option to book the island out on an exclusive basis. The main ‘piazza’ or village has many attractions from the glittering infinity pool and rooftop bar, to your choice of private dining in the beach pizzeria, lounge or Italian inspired indoor grotto and cellar.
Activities at Miavana include ‘Blue safaris’, impressive scuba diving (including wreck diving on 120ft wreck in 4mts), whale, turtle and dolphin watching, superb snorkelling, kite surfing, fly fishing, deep sea fishing, sailing, walking, running trails, swimming at low & high tide and sleep outs & picnics on the smaller neighbouring island of Manampaho boasting a 1km beach
Wildlife enthusiasts are well catered for at Miavana with two endemic species of Lemur on the mainland, just 10 minutes away by helicopter. Turns and Turtles nest between May and mid-July and with Olive Ridley, Green, Hawksbill and Loggerhead all nesting here; there’s a high chance of witnessing hatchlings year round. Between July and October Humpback Whales breach, tail slap and calf right in front of the spectacularly located villas.
Miavana is accessed with four weekly scheduled 1hr 15min flights from Antananarivo to nearest airport, Diego Suarez, followed by a 20 min helicopter flight from Diego Suarez (Antsiranana) to Nosy Ankao or a 40 min helicopter flight from Nosy Be airport.
