Olinto
A thoughtfully curated boutique hotel at the foot of Morocco's Atlas Mountains, where masterful local craftsmanship, lush botanical gardens, and timeless design come together to create an intimate, tranquil escape.
Only an hour from the bustling city of Marrakech, Olinto provides a most beautiful retreat in the Berber heartland of Morocco. Those in search of utter tranquillity will find themselves surrounded by stunning vistas and pure mountain air. Owned and created by Prince Pabrizio Ruspoli di Poggio Suasa, this has been his personal passion project to deliver a romantic, botanical paradise, and he has achieved just that.
The carefully designed gardens are filled with Moroccan delights including olive and plump orange trees, stepped terracing providing, aloes and other succulents that enjoy the summer months and bougainvillea adding colour throughout the 35 acre grounds.
Each of the nine pavilions is set in its own spacious, private garden enclosed by traditional earthen walls, with a roof top terrace to enjoy the sun or an early morning breakfast. With views over the lush gardens and Atlas Mountains the only difference between the garden and pool pavilions is the heated private pool. The interiors are richly designed, mostly by hand, in Berber colours and style. Each room enjoys it’s own lounge area and log burning fireplace for the cooler evenings. With their own Smart TVs with VOD, desk area, tea and coffee facilities, complimentary welcome minibar stocked with local wine, beer, and soft drinks, guests receive the maximum level of modern comfort.
The onsite kitchen gardens provide much of the organic produce for the farm-to-table menu, which features traditional Moroccan dishes and Mediterranean flavours. Most of the year, dining is enjoyed under a canopy of wisteria. During cooler months, a fire is lit at the boma for pre dinner drinks and the indoor dining space offers a cosy refined space with crackling fires.
An adult only property, with children from 14 years+ welcomed, the pool is are area of tranquillity with views across the mountains. There is an additional heated pool by the spa which offers traditional Berber-inspired rituals, including an authentic hammam, Ghassoul clay wraps as well as facials, deep-relaxation massages and body scrubs.
We love Olinto for it’s peace and elegance but whilst here you can journey into Marigha to admire the old Berber architecture and learn about the local way of life and the technique of salt production. Trek to the Makhelfou hill for a panoramic view over Ouirgane village and the Yaakoub Almansour dam, and hike through the Ammayn forest.
