Plantation Lodge

Plantation Lodge is set within lush gardens on the grounds of a coffee plantation between Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. It offers an excellent alternative to the safaris camps on the Crater Rim, giving the excitement of a safari within a short drive, and the comfort of a charming family-run boutique hotel.

A converted family house and homestead, the 25 rooms and suites at Plantation Lodge each has their own individual style, and are found either within separate cottages or as part of the original stable block.

Designed to give maximum relaxation after a day out in the bush, guest rooms are simple, yet full of character with slate floors, straw matting and whitewashed walls. Each comes with a veranda, fireplace and small library, and its own distinct East African theme, showcasing local East African arts and crafts. The bathroom is simple – sink, bath, shower – and beautifully kept. The seven suites offer that extra bit of space, two with an extra bedroom ideal for those travelling with small children.

The main guest areas, relaxed and understated, include a lounge, bar, reception, terrace, two dining rooms and a gorgeous swimming pool. There are lots of spots to relax in comfy chairs within gardens filled with banana, mango and avocado trees, with bougainvillea, frangipani and jacaranda, and home to a stunningly diverse population of birds.

The lodge’s location promises maximum safari enjoyment, twenty minutes from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Lake Manyara national park, and also accessible from the Tarangire national park and the Serengeti.
