Red Feather Inn
The Red Feather Inn is a charming place to relax, share and enjoy, the staff ready to meet your every need as a luxury retreat from the hustle of everyday life.
Explore the region then enjoy their unique dining experience showcasing the very best seasonal Tasmanian produce on offer and cellar of local cool climate Tasmanian and Australian wines.
The Red Feather is a collection of notable historic sandstone buildings located in Hadspen ‘VIII miles from Launceston’, Australia’s third oldest city. Famed colonial Georgian architect John Sprunt built the Inn with convict labour circa 1842. First licensed in 1844, it was one of Van Diemen’s Land first coaching Inns.
Proprietor Lydia Nettlefold has reinvented the Red Feather Inn in her vision of Georgian dancing with French provincial. This, combined with the ultimate in modern comforts creates a unique atmosphere in this endemic Tasmanian heritage treasure, now the perfect luxury retreat for intimate getaways or very special gatherings.
The Red Feather Inn restaurant offers a fresh “plat de jour” menu consisting of three choices of entre main and dessert. The chefs Felicity and Lewis use only the freshest locally sourced ingredients much of which is grown and raised by the owners themselves. They also boast an extensive wine list featuring their pick of local Tasmanian cool climate wines to accompany our menu.
All suites and rooms are beautifully appointed overlooking the secluded garden each featuring superior quality beds, state of the art bathrooms, gas log fires and more.
The Red Feather Cooking School has been created as an added dimension to the Red Feather Inn Boutique Accommodation. Owner Lydia Nettlefold, house chefs and visiting guest chefs aim to share their wealth of knowledge – a passion for good food, the enjoyment of cooking and the splendour of Tasmanian produce. At the Red Feather Inn we believe that a shared table with fine food, wine and conversation is one of life’s greatest pleasures.
