Richard’s River Camp

Perfect for the discerning traveller, Richard’s River Camp is a luxury tented camp in the very heart of the Masai Mara. Designed with privacy, exclusivity as well as adventure in mind, you are ensured a warm and memorable safari.

Located in the outstanding Masai Mara, Richard’s River Camp is sits on the border of the breath-taking Mara North Conservancy and the Olare Orok Conservancy.

Perfectly situated on the banks of the Njageteck River and surrounded by 70 acres of private land. This allows the camp total privacy and exclusivity. The Ngoyanai springs provide permanent water, drawing in large numbers of animals to the area around camp both day and night.

This camp is also particularly known for its resident lion pride which can often been seen hunting right in front of the camp, and most always can be heard roaring during the night.

Six standard tents and one large family tent, look out across the Njageteck River which travels gently infront of the camp. Due to it’s size, Richard’s River Camp is ideal for individuals as well as exclusive groups who wish to experience the Masai Mara in a personal intimate setting. Beautifully appointed with furnishings and fabrics collected by the owner on her travels – the result is a casually luxurious tented camp, combining exceptional wildlife with a contemporary ‘Out of Africa’ experience.

Most of the staff at Richard’s River Camp are of the Masai tribe and their families live within the Mara. The guides at the camps are also Masai and therefore know everything there is to know about the area. The in house chefs have been trained in international cuisine at various kitchens across Kenya and have amassed a wide range of culinary skills and cooking methods.

During your stay at Richard’s River Camp you’ll have the opportunity to join day and night Game Drives and take Birding and scenic guided Bush Walks within Mara North, visit local Masai villages and schools, enjoy sundowner excursions and bush meals, visit the National Reserve and take Hot Air Balloon excursions.
