Sasaab

Sasaab is perched on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the Samburu heartlands of Northern Kenya. A stunning blend of Swahili and Moroccan design, this luxury lodge has a focus on wellbeing, and offers nine thatch and canvas suites. Each suite is over 100m² in size, with a private plunge pool and breath-taking views over the river, ideal for watching the herds of elephant that come to bathe below.

Situated on the edge of Samburu National Park, with the jagged peaks of Mount Kenya as a backdrop, Sasaab is designed makes the most of the river breezes, with high thatch roofs and pale cool stone floors. The nine luxury suites (including one family suite) are designed as a private sanctuary, with four poster beds draped in romantic mosquito netting, large nested sofas with colourful cushions, and enormous open air bathrooms. Canvas walls can be opened up allowing for uninhibited views and a cooling breeze. Add to this a large verandah with views to die for and a cooling plunge pool, as you can imagine it’s hard to tear yourself away.

The main guest areas sit on a high rocky ridge, taking further advantage of the jaw dropping vistas. These include a Moroccan style courtyard bar and lounge area, a large freeform swimming pool and the award winning ‘Spasaab’, which offers an indulgent selection of pampering and invigorating treatments – the ultimate in safari zen.

Attention to detail is evident throughout the lodge, from personal service and delicious meals, which are served in various areas around the lodge: in the main courtyard dining area; in the privacy of your suite; or by the swimming pool. There are no set times and a strong emphasis is placed on the highest quality and freshest products, and the dishes are of a Moroccan influence.

Sasaab sits at the heart of a community conservancy, rich in raw Samburu culture and traditions, and has been built with wildlife conservation and preservation of the environment foremost in mind. The lodge has been established in association with the local community who benefit directly from your stay. Safari adventures include nature walks, game-drives and unique cultural experiences, or for adrenalin seekers; quad-biking, camel-rides and helicopter excursions further enhance your experience. You can even pre-book to spend a night fly camping out in the bush under our mosquito dome tents and fall asleep gazing up at the stars.
