Shinde

Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate camp, with eight classic tents, located on the edge of the Shinde Lagoon. Located within the Shinde private concession, which borders the north of the Moremi Reserve, the wildlife in this area is extremely diverse. A complete safari experience, Shinde is an ideal base for both water and land based safari activities.

Rebuilt in 2020 and looking better than ever, Shinde has eight elegant tents, combining understated luxury with classic charm. Every comfort has been catered for – from full solar electricity, expansive en-suite bathrooms with a ‘loo with a view’, yoga mats for your down time and a private viewing deck overlooking the vast floodplains. One of the rooms is a family unit with two bedrooms ideal for those travelling with children.

Situated on the edge of the main camp you’ll find Shinde Enclave, which is booked on an exclusive use basis, with three luxury tents with private decks. With a private dining and boma area, personal chef, guide and game drive vehicle, this is the perfect setup for a family or group of friends travelling together.

The shared guest area at Shinde is designed like a treehouse with a multi-tiered outdoor dining area and boma, all shaded by beautiful ebony and mangosteen trees. The library is a great place to curl up with a book, and there is a lovely shaded swimming pool, ideal for cooling off in the heat of the day.

Courtesy of Shinde’s prime location, both water and land activities are on offer year-round. You choose how you spend your time! With the help of your guide, opt for a sunrise or sunset motorboat excursion, game-drive with a guaranteed window seat, relaxed mokoro ride along the iconic Delta waterways, or a guided nature walk through the swaying palms. Fishing enthusiasts can also enjoy fishing for a variety of species such as tilapia and tiger fish. Shinde provides a complete safari experience with wildlife to match, from the elusive sitatunga, spotted hidden in the reeds, to big cats such as lion or cheetah.
