Located in the Laikipa region, Sosian is a working cattle ranch which thrives alongside wildlife and conservation practises. At the heart of the ranch stands Sosian Lodge an elegant yet informal retreat, offering a friendly home-from-home atmosphere.
Sosian truly makes one feel at home in the wilderness with elegant accommodation and endless safari adventure to keep you as busy or relaxed as you choose. With over 24,000 acres of private wilderness, Sosian conservancy has exceptional scope for viewing wildlife in its natural habitat, being a haven for over 70 species of mammals, 30 species of reptiles and over 350 species of birds. Alongside the ranches cattle herd, this is a unique sight.
Today the original ranch house is now the centre piece of Sosian Lodge, made up of a large sitting room, dining room, bar and billiards room, with an expansive wrap around veranda, offering undisturbed views of the bush beyond. The bedrooms (eight in total) are spaced out across the lodge gardens, housed in a variety of one and two bedroom structures, while the swimming pool plays host to long lunches under the cool of the thatch roof of the pool house, and delicious BBQs in the evenings.
Sosian is perhaps best known for its huge array of activities whilst on safari. From early morning and late-afternoon game drives to horse-riding, fly camping, walking safaris, fishing, kayaking, camel treks and cultural activities, not to mention getting your hands dirty down on the cattle ranch, there is something for everyone, big or small.
