The Datai Langkawi

Nestled in the heart of a 10-million-year-old rainforest and perched on a golden beach facing the Andaman Sea, The Datai Langkawi is a destination for pure escapism and relaxation.

Each of the resorts 121 rooms, suites and villas are tucked into lush rainforest with stunning views from private verandas of the ocean. The rooms are designed with a fusion of contemporary and local styles to provide all that you would hope for from a luxury hotel without losing a sense of place.

Guests can choose from a diverse choice of award-winning dining options inspired by culinary traditions from around the region, The Datai Langkawi plays out its cuisine in unique settings, many with spectacular views, that enhance the serenity of the natural environment. One of our favourite dining options is the Pavilion perched on 30-metre stilts in the tree canopy allowing far-reaching views over the rainforest.

The Nature Centre is a unique open-air building, inspired by a tribal bamboo longhouse. There is a library full of references to the natural world of Langkawi and Malaysia, a lounge for guests to sit and listen to stories from the wild by Resident Naturalist, Irshad Mobarak, and the team. There is also a Tea Corner serving specially curated teas, by Dr Ghani, Langkawi’s well known traditional Malay medicine guru using herbs and spices from plants native to the rainforest.

Whether you’re planning a romantic escape or a family holiday, The Datai Langkawi encourages guests to enjoy a range of experiences from exploring the rainforest right outside your roomto sailing out at sunset and looking back at glorious Datai Bay. Nestled between primeval rainforest and the emerald green of the Andaman Sea, the award-winning,18-hole, par-72 championship golf course at the Els Club Teluk Datai, designed by legendary player Ernie Els, provides a world-class golfing experience in one of the world’s most spectacular settings. Alternatively take advantage of the Malay, Thai and Indian resident chefs’ culinary expertise, put on one of the complimentary aprons and chef’s hats and join the cookery class at The Dapur.

The resort’s private footpath leads to dreamy Datai Bay’s idyllic white-sand beach, one of the Top 10 Beaches worldwide as awarded by National Geographic.
