The Hide

Set in Zimbabwe's flagship Hwange National Park, The Hide is a traditional, luxury safari camp with beautiful tented suites overlooking a wildly productive waterhole. Established in 1992, The Hide benefits from being located in the parks prime wildlife area. Guests often don't need to roam far from their verandah to be part of the action.

The Hide enjoys “the best of both worlds” with it’s own private concession and direct access to the Hwangwe National Park.

Days are spent exploring the National Park then, as the sun sets, night drives (not allowed in the National Park) are held on their private concession in search of nocturnal wildlife under the vast skies. Here, the team at The Hide are passionate about nature and remain one of the top safari choices in Hwange; building on the supberb location and extensive knowledge of the park that 30 years+ provides. Starting as simple tented camp, today they have developed their offering to maximise comfort and wildlife experience.

The Hide consists of ten tents in various configurations with indoor and/or outdoor baths and showers. Within these ten tents are two family tents which can accommodation 2 adults and 2 children. As a family-owned camp, the addition of Tom’s Little Hide was built to accommodation up to 6 adults and 4 children (of all ages) in 3 adjacent rooms.  An independent option with it’s own splash pool, private dining and private activities. This is a secret gem for families or friends travelling together, providing complete flexibility on whether you want to spend all day out in the bush with your private guide and vehicle, or enjoy lazy mornings by the splash pool.

The newest addition, The Dove’s nest, is what dreams are made of!  A simple, romantic sleep out, with 180-degree views under the stars and available to guests staying at The Hide for a night of your stay (replacing a night already booked in camp).

However, aside from these luxuries, safari is what it is all about. Incredible wildlife interactions on foot, 4×4 and from camp itself. In addition, they have fantastic hides strategically placed overlooking the waterhole in front of camp and eye underground where your eye level meets just above the water level, completely hidden, providing such an intimate level of game viewing hard to achieve elsewhere.  The thrill of sitting quietly has never been so exciting. A place to watch the comings and goings of resident wildlife from frogs to elephants!
