Uga Chena has only 14 luxury “huts”, each designed to blend with the surrounding environment with minimal impact. Each offers over 1,130sqft of space with a large, shaded veranda and 5m plunge pool overlooking the surrounding wilderness and seascape. A contemporary combination of wood, glass and canvas each hut is en-suite with a mini bar, tv and spacious living area. The luxury interiors provide all the modern comforts with a nod to Sri Lankan traditional design.
Well known for their outstanding cuisine using locally sourced ingredients and international techniques, guests at the beachside Basses Restaurant enjoy a fresh, fine dining Sri Lankan menu. Al fresco dining is an evening speciality for those that want to dine under the canopy of the stars, by a crackling fireplace and overlooking the lapping waves of the Indian Ocean.

To the north is the vast Yala National Park. With lowland woodlands, grasslands, lakes and lagoons, Yala National Park is famed for its diverse resident wildlife including the elusive leopard. Guests can enjoy full day safaris in a privately guided vehicle with the opportunity to spot leopard, Sri Lankan elephants, sloth bears, peacocks, crocodiles, and monitor lizards.
To the south, and within walking distance of your room, is the beach where sea turtles annually come to lay their eggs and a saline lake, home to ibises, painted storks and flamingos wading in the shallows.
