Babylonstoren
Babylonstoren is a working wine and fruit farm in the glorious Drakenstein Valley between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. Lovely white-washed Cape Dutch buildings form the exteriors, while the interiors showcase a combination of heritage and modern living.
Babylonstoren offers 12 Garden Suites and Cottages characterised by thick whitewashed walls, elegant gables and hearty fireplaces that emulate an authentic farm stay experience. The nearby Farmhouse, beneath a canopy of trees, has nine One Bedroom Suites combining authentic architecture with modern design. Further afield, in a stunning location overlooking the orchards and vineyards, you’ll find the Fynbos Cottages where there are nine light and airy one and two cottages newly built in the Cape Dutch style sharing a secluded swimming pool. Finally Babylonstoren’s exclusive use Dutch Manor House, dating back to 1777, has been beautifully restored to its former glory with five gorgeous bedrooms.
A true Eden, 8 acres of formal gardens and irrigation waterways, yield over 300 edible plants. This seasonal produce is used in the exquisite meals presented by the hotel’s top restaurants, Babel and The Green House. Babylonstoren’s Garden Tour is a firm favourite, not to mention the hotel’s wine tasting and cellar tours.
Wander through the grounds, along the secluded oak-shaded paths, letting your soul soak up the tranquillity of this incredible location, or feel rejuvenated at the wonderful spa, gym and swimming pool. The farm is also a paradise for children. Young guests are invited to help feed the donkeys, to collect eggs and to help harvest fruit and vegetables from the garden, especially for the breakfast table. It’s a treasure chest of surprises; a maze, a lake with boats and a surprise water fountain.
Unique and wholesome, beautiful Babylonstoren is a great choice for couples and families alike.
