Pacuare Lodge

Tucked away in the middle of 840 acres of private reserve, Pacuare Lodge sits peacefully on the banks of the mighty Pacuare River.

Pacuare Lodge is a truly remote and special lodge and is best accessed (at least one way) via a half-day white water rafting ride passing stunning rainforests, narrow canyons, and waterfalls on every side. The 20 thatched roof bungalows each have a private veranda to allow guests to immerse themselves in the surrounding forest. For those looking for the ultimate treehouse experience, The Canopy Suite is built high in the treetops. The room comes with its own plunge pool and is accessed via a private suspension bridge for total privacy.

At night, Pacuare is lit mostly by candles, which provides a soft glow amid the deep, dark forest. In daylight hours there are hikes to suit all levels of trekkers from gentle, riverside walks to rock climbing up vertical waterfalls. Many of the trails mark the very routes carved out by indigenous Indians that have long gone from Costa Rica but have left their mark in this beautiful, canopied world over 3000 years ago.

The Jawa Juü Spa is excellent providing a wide range of treatments inspired by many natural healing properties of the plantlife in the surrounding rainforest.
