Ant’s Hill
Ant's Hill is perched on an escarpment, on its own private reserve in the malaria-free Waterberg Biosphere. With spectacular views of the Waterberg plateau and mountains beyond, this gorgeous bush home is owner run and very family-friendly, priding itself on its relaxed ambiance and flexible approach to activities and mealtimes.
Each of the five guestrooms and cottages are individual in shape and size, ranging from one to three bedroom units. These include two honeymoon cottages, two family cottages, one of which has a private pool, and one guestroom situated above the main lodge with a private veranda overlooking the spectacular gorge. All feature brightly coloured East African fabrics, draped four poster beds and spectacular bathrooms, offering guests sunken baths and waterfall showers.
The lodge boasts a spacious living area and dining room, both with welcoming fireplaces. A large veranda and deck overhangs the gorge, ideal for early morning breakfast and evening sundowners. To top it all Ants Hill overlooks a waterhole frequently visited by a variety of game. Ant’s Hill is well known for its excellent team of guides, and for staff who ensure that guests not only experience a level of hospitality akin to staying with friends, but are also served up food fit for a king, together with an impressive range of bush activities
Chief among the activities is the chance to participate in horse-riding safaris with a stable of 90 well-trained horses, suited to all ages and abilities. For non-riders, there are plenty of alternative options including mountain biking, target shooting, guided bush walks, game drives and rhino tracking. Whilst there are no big cats or elephant on the reserve itself, day excursions can be made to a nearby reserve for your fill of Big Five wildlife.
Ant’s Hill, and neighbouring Ant’s Nest, the second bush home on the reserve, are great options for couples, honeymooners and families alike, as the rooms are all very private and activities can be tailor made to suit everyone. It is easy to see why it has become one of the most sought after addresses in the Waterberg.
