Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel
Set at the foot of Table Mountain, in the heart of the City Bowl, the iconic Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, fondly known as the Cape Towns’ Pink Lady due to her pink facade, opened her doors in 1899 and has been welcoming loyal guests ever since. The service is impeccable, interiors are elegant and gardens are immaculately groomed.
The 197 rooms and suites at the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel are found within six wings within sprawling lush gardens. Each has its own personality and all are beautifully appointed. These range from cosy superior and deluxe rooms up to beautiful suites with spacious living areas, ideal for families. The unique Garden Cottage Suites sit behind a scented rose garden enclosed by a picket fence and are perfect romantic accommodation.
The facilities at the Belmond Mount Nelson are superb and include two swimming pools; the Oasis pool being one of the largest heated outdoor pool in South Africa, and the cottage pool in a more secluded setting for over 16s only. There are also two flood-lit tennis courts, golf practise nets, a fitness centre and the indulgent Librisa Spa with eight treatment rooms, plunge pool, steam bath and sauna.
The Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel is a great option for couples and families alike, and for under 12s the hotel offers a dedicated fully supervised Children’s Club.
Dining options at the hotel are excellent. The Lord Nelson restaurant offers a vibrant and avant-garde menu under the helm of Chef Rudi Liebenberg – a passionate proponent of locally sourced ingredients. A draw for hotel guests and locals alike, Oasis Bistro is perfect for long lazy breakfasts or an invigorating afternoon pick-me-up cocktail. High tea in the lounge is a star attraction, and the cool chic Planet Bar buzzes year round with well-heeled Capetonians sipping sundowners or pre-dinner champagne.
