Hog Hollow Country Lodge
Hog Hollow Country Lodge is perched above the dramatic Matjies River Gorge, a short distance inland from Plettenberg Bay on South Africa's Garden Route. The wilderness views here are simply superb, and you are perfectly placed to enjoy a myriad of outdoor activities from SUPing on the Keurbooms River, horseriding or hiking on nearby trails or boat trips at nearby Plettenberg Bay.
Nestled in indigenous forest you’ll find 16 beautifully decorated Suites. Guestrooms boast African-chic interiors with cosy fire places and private decks for appreciating the spectacular vistas. There are also three wonderful two-storey Loft Suites, which accommodate two adults and two children under 12.
For families, The Villa and Forest Villa at Hog Hollow feature three and four bedrooms respectively. Set 400m from the main lodge overlooking the forests and mountains, each villa has a private swimming pool, barbeque facilities and a large lounge area.
The main lodge houses the bar, huge yellowwood dining table, library and pool terrace, all positioned to thoroughly appreciate this unique setting, whilst the Ficus lounge is home to an ancient fruit-laden tree which is a favourite with Plettenberg’s prolific bird community.
Hog Hollow prides itself on its cuisine which is served under the auspices of chef and host, Mark. On crisp clear mornings, farmhouse breakfasts are served on the Boma deck with magnificent views, or near the huge fireplace when it’s cooler. In the evening, drinks and aperitifs are served on the deck, followed by a delicious three course dinner in the main dining room.
Ideal for families and couples alike, Hog Hollow is a charming, friendly base to enjoy the endless activities available at the Crags, Tsitsikamma National Park or Plettenberg Bay. Or just kick back and relax at the lodge and soak up the breathtaking vista.
