Each sumptuous suite at La Residence has been uniquely designed by owner and renowned art collector Liz Biden, with its own colour scheme and design inspiration – from the exotic Tibetan Suite with its oriental antiques and rich orange tones to the blue and yellow Chambre Bleu with its Provençal antiques, velvets and silks. Rooms open on to generous balconies and verandas, which provide the perfect space to relax and admire the panoramic views. The two and three-bedroom Vineyard Suites are ideal for families, most with their own pool.
The main house features an enormous hall, which serves as the dining room. With chequered marble flooring imported from India, enormous fireplaces, artwork collected from around the world and a magnificent four-metre chandelier, the feel is palatial and the food is equally as good. The magnificent space opens onto wide terraces bordered by roses, great for alfresco dining.
The hotel has a stunning infinity pool, and you can indulge in a range of spa treatments in the privacy of your own room or balcony. Staff are discrete, yet nothing is too much trouble and attention to detail, sincere warmth and village knowledge are integral. A host of activities can be arranged including golf, trout-fishing, horse riding, helicopter excursions and guided wine tours. This is undoubtedly one of the most spoiling boutique properties in the Cape Winelands.
Slightly set away from the hotel, La Residence has five vineyard suites, ideal for families, with suites for two, four or six people with open-plan living and dining areas, private terraces, pools and gardens. Here meals are enjoyed in a club house style open dining lounge area with an open kitchen – great for children to roll to learn how to make pizza, cookies and many other delicious treats. A laid-back alternative to the main hotel.
