See The World For Less

As we kick off 2019 with U.K Parliament still in deadlock and amidst talk of ‘deal or no deal’, we thought we would reach for our tin hats early in preparation of what may lie ahead.

With European holiday prices expected to rise after Brexit, 2019 is the year to look further afield and plan a long-haul trip where your pound will go the extra mile. We have, therefore, picked five of our ‘sterling-stretcher’ destinations that not only deliver some of the most incredible travel experiences known, but also where the pound is particularly strong compared to exchange rate levels a few years ago.

Importantly, tourism also forms a vital part of the economy in each of the countries featured, and some of our favourite  properties are offering extremely attractive room rates in an effort to entice travellers back.

After the peso’s free-fall in 2018, Sterling is now returning almost double what it was eighteen months ago. Visit Buenos Aires in 2019 and you can enjoy a bottle of the finest Malbec accompanied by the best steak on earth for a fraction of what you would have paid this time last year. At almost 50 pesos to the pound, there is a return of over £500 for every £1,000 spent compared to five years ago.  Click here to find out more.

Almost ten years on from the year that Myanmar opened its doors to the world, internal conflict, deteriorating education and stagnated economic reforms have left the country in much the same place that it was in 2010. As a visitor, however, this untouched land remains one of the most exciting destinations in South-East Asia. We urge you to support Myanmar by choosing to visit this extraordinary country and learn for yourself what makes it so special. Click here to find out more.

2018 was a year of significant archaeological discoveries in Egypt and 2019 is the year to go and see them for yourself. Many of the country’s finest hotels and riverboats are offering unbeatable rates for this year and we expect tourist numbers to surge again in 2020 making this a good year to get back to Egypt before the crowds return. We are delighted to include Egypt as a new destination in our portfolio.  Click here to find out more.

The pound has improved against the Nepalese rupee in the last 12 months and getting around the country is much more cost-effective. From the streets of Kathmandu to the misty valleys of the Annapurna Mountains, we know how to access the hidden secrets of this beautiful country. Toby is always delighted to talk to anyone who will listen about his amazing experiences in Nepal over the last few years and why it soared to number one on his list of top destinations.  Click here to find out more.

While the Brazilian economy is slowly rising out of its worst recession in history, the pound is still over ten percent stronger than the real in 2019 compared to where it was a year ago. Rio, a city known for its glitz and glamour is more affordable than ever and travelling from here to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches won’t cost the earth.  Click here to find out more.
